Welcome to Hammer High Fire & Steel, a small artist blacksmith shop located in the foothills of western North Carolina. My name is John and I decided to pursue the blacksmith hobby in fall of 2019. I purchased my anvil in January 2020 from a local blacksmith & gentleman Harold Cook. Based on the well-worn emblem, it looks to be a Wilkinson’s anvil from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s as best I can tell. Since the anvil purchase, knowledge and inspiration has come from various sources such as books & publications, several Youtube blacksmiths, and much trial and error.
